Another Stiltz home lift successfully installed by the Anglian Lifts team – and this particular installation was a great example of just how quickly and efficiently these innovative domestic lifts can sometimes be installed.
Yesterday, our engineers completed the installation of a reconditioned Stiltz Duo+ home lift, providing convenient access between two floors of the customer’s property.
Despite outside temperatures reaching the high 30s and approaching 40°C, our engineers completed the lift installation in approximately four hours, leaving the customer with a fully operational home lift ready to use.
At Anglian Lifts, we supply and install both new and reconditioned Stiltz home lifts, as well as providing servicing, maintenance, repairs and ongoing technical support for existing Stiltz lift owners.
As a Stiltz Premier Partner, our engineers are fully trained and authorised to install and maintain Stiltz products, giving our customers the reassurance that their lift is being looked after by engineers with the appropriate product knowledge and training.
Why Choose a Stiltz Home Lift?
The Stiltz home lift range offers a very different solution from a traditional passenger lift.
Rather than requiring a conventional lift shaft, machine room or extensive structural alterations, Stiltz home lifts use their own unique self-supporting dual rail system. The weight and forces of the lift are carried through these rails rather than requiring a conventional supporting lift shaft or load-bearing wall.
This makes a Stiltz home lift an extremely versatile option for many residential properties.
The compact Stiltz Duo+ has a footprint of approximately 0.55m² and is designed to carry two people between floors. Stiltz states that a typical journey between floors takes less than 30 seconds.
For customers requiring wheelchair access, the larger Stiltz Trio+ home lift offers additional internal space and can accommodate a standard-sized wheelchair or walking aid.
A Compact Alternative to a Stairlift
For some people, a stairlift is exactly the right solution. However, it isn’t suitable for everybody.
Some customers may find transferring onto and off a stairlift difficult. Others simply don’t want a stairlift permanently occupying part of their staircase.
A Stiltz home lift can provide an alternative way of moving between floors while leaving the staircase clear for everyone else in the property.
It can also be particularly useful when planning for the future.
Many customers choose to install a home lift before mobility becomes a significant problem, effectively future-proofing their home and allowing them to remain in a property they know and love rather than moving simply because using the stairs has become difficult.
Where Can a Stiltz Home Lift Be Installed?
One of the biggest advantages of the Stiltz product range is the flexibility available when deciding where the lift should go.
There isn’t one standard installation arrangement.
Every property is different, which is why our engineers will look at the available space, floor construction, access requirements and how the rooms are currently used before recommending a suitable position.
Depending on the property, a Stiltz home lift installation can potentially be positioned:
- In the corner of a living room
- Within a bedroom
- Between a living room and bedroom
- Between a hallway and upstairs landing
- Within an existing cupboard
- Inside purpose-built cupboards
- Through an open stairwell or stair void
- Within part of a home office
- Through a floor aperture between two rooms
- Within an extension or refurbishment project
Stiltz specifically highlights cupboard spaces, stairwell voids and corners of rooms as potential installation locations for its compact home lifts.
This flexibility means we can often find a solution that minimises the amount of living space lost to the lift.
Cupboard Installations
A particularly neat option is to incorporate the Stiltz home lift into a cupboard.
Depending on the layout of the property, cupboards can be constructed around the lift at one or both levels. When the lift is parked on another floor, this can make the installation extremely discreet.
For customers carrying out a larger renovation, the lift can therefore be incorporated into the design of the property rather than appearing to be something that has simply been added afterwards.
Stairwell and Void Installations
Where the property has a suitable open stairwell, landing void or other opening between floors, it may be possible to install the lift through the existing void.
This can significantly reduce the amount of structural alteration required because a completely new floor aperture may not be necessary.
Through-Floor Installations
Another common arrangement is the traditional through-floor Stiltz home lift installation.
An opening is created between the two floors and the lift travels through this aperture.
One of the clever features of the Stiltz system is that when the lift travels away from a floor, the floor opening is automatically protected as part of the lift system.
The result is a compact installation without the large permanent shaft normally associated with a conventional lift.
We Can Arrange the Building Work Too
Installing a home lift can involve more than simply delivering the lift itself.
Depending on the property and chosen lift position, building works may be required to create the floor aperture, alter ceilings, relocate electrical services or make good the surrounding area.
At Anglian Lifts, we can organise the required building work as part of the project if the customer would like us to.
This means we can coordinate the different elements of the installation and provide a more straightforward process for customers who would rather deal with one company.
Alternatively, customers are completely welcome to use their own preferred builder.
We’re happy to work alongside the customer’s builder and provide the information necessary for them to prepare the property correctly before the lift installation.
There is no requirement for customers to use our building contractors.
Fast Installation with Minimal Disruption
Every installation is different, and some projects inevitably require more preparation than others, but Stiltz home lifts are specifically designed to reduce installation complexity.
The lift is manufactured in modular sections and uses a self-supporting rail system, while the drive equipment is contained within the lift rather than requiring a separate machine room.
Once the appropriate building preparation has been completed, the actual lift installation can therefore be remarkably quick.
Yesterday’s installation demonstrated this perfectly.
Our engineers installed the reconditioned Stiltz Duo+ home lift in around four hours, despite working through exceptionally hot weather.
Not every Stiltz installation will be completed in four hours – property layouts and site conditions vary – but it demonstrates how little disruption can sometimes be involved compared with installing a traditional domestic passenger lift.
Quiet and Economical Operation
A Stiltz home lift doesn’t require a traditional hydraulic power pack.
Instead, the lift uses a compact electric drive system located within the lift car roof area. The Duo+ can be connected to a normal domestic 13-amp electrical supply, making its electrical requirements relatively straightforward compared with many conventional lift systems.
The absence of a conventional hydraulic system also contributes towards the quiet operation of the lift.
For a lift being installed into a living room, bedroom, home office or other frequently occupied part of the house, this is understandably an important consideration.
More Than Just a Mobility Product
Although accessibility is the main reason many people begin looking for a Stiltz home lift, owners often discover that they use their lift for much more than simply travelling upstairs.
A home lift can also make everyday jobs easier.
Laundry baskets, suitcases, boxes, shopping, vacuum cleaners and other awkward household items can potentially be moved between floors using the lift rather than being carried up and down the stairs. Stiltz itself highlights moving luggage, laundry and household items as an additional everyday benefit of its home lifts.
It can therefore become a genuinely useful part of the home rather than simply a piece of accessibility equipment.
Stiltz Duo+ Home Lift
The Stiltz Duo+ is one of the most popular options for customers wanting a compact domestic lift.
Its small footprint of around 0.55m² means it can often be installed in areas where a conventional lift simply wouldn’t be practical.
The Duo+ is particularly suited to customers who:
- Can walk into and out of the lift
- Want an alternative to a stairlift
- Want to future-proof their property
- Have limited available floor space
- Would prefer a lift without a conventional shaft
- Want to retain the normal use and appearance of their staircase
There are also different entrance arrangements available, including configurations that allow passengers to enter from one side and exit from the opposite side where the property layout requires it.
Stiltz Trio+ Wheelchair Home Lift
For customers requiring more space, the Stiltz Trio+ provides a larger platform and is designed to accommodate a standard wheelchair.
It can also be useful for customers using walking frames or those simply wanting additional internal space.
The Trio+ has a maximum rated load of 250kg and can travel up to six metres, subject to the particular installation and specification.
Our team can assess the customer’s requirements and property before advising whether a Duo+ or Trio+ is likely to provide the more appropriate solution.
New and Reconditioned Stiltz Home Lifts
Anglian Lifts can provide both new and reconditioned Stiltz home lifts.
A new lift may be the preferred option for customers wanting the latest specification and a completely new installation.
However, a professionally reconditioned Stiltz lift can provide an excellent alternative where an appropriate unit is available.
Yesterday’s Duo+ installation is a good example.
The customer received the benefits of the Stiltz home lift system while choosing a reconditioned lift, which can significantly reduce the cost compared with buying completely new equipment.
Availability of reconditioned lifts naturally varies, so customers interested in this option are welcome to contact us to discuss what we currently have available.
Stiltz Home Lift Servicing and Maintenance
Our involvement with a Stiltz lift doesn’t end after installation.
Anglian Lifts provides Stiltz home lift servicing and maintenance for both lifts that we have installed and existing Stiltz lifts installed by other companies.
Routine maintenance is an important part of keeping any lifting appliance operating safely and reliably.
Our engineers can inspect the lift, its safety systems and operating components, identify developing problems and provide advice where repairs or replacement components may be required.
If you already own a Stiltz lift and are looking for a company to take over its ongoing maintenance, please contact our team.
Stiltz Home Lift Repairs
We also provide Stiltz home lift repairs.
Whether the lift has developed an intermittent problem, stopped working completely or requires replacement components, our engineers can diagnose faults and carry out repairs to Stiltz equipment.
As an authorised Stiltz Premier Partner, we have the product training and technical knowledge required to properly support the equipment rather than treating it as simply another generic lift product.
Stiltz operates a dedicated technical support programme for its authorised partner network, including support for Premier Partners.
Why Choose Anglian Lifts for Your Stiltz Home Lift?
Choosing the right lift is important, but choosing the right company to install and maintain it is equally important.
Anglian Lifts is a Stiltz Premier Partner company.
Our engineers are trained and authorised to install and maintain Stiltz home lifts, and we can support customers throughout the complete life of the product.
That includes:
- Initial advice and site survey
- New Stiltz home lift supply
- Reconditioned Stiltz home lift supply
- Installation
- Building work where required
- Working alongside your own builder if preferred
- Servicing and planned maintenance
- Fault finding
- Repairs
- Replacement parts
- Ongoing technical support
Our philosophy has always been simple: sold by engineers, installed by our own engineers and supported by engineers.
We believe customers should be given clear, practical advice about what will work in their property rather than simply being sold a product.
Looking for a Stiltz Home Lift?
If you’re considering installing a Stiltz home lift, already own one that requires servicing, or have a Stiltz lift that has developed a fault, Anglian Lifts can help.
Whether you’re looking for a new Stiltz Duo+, a wheelchair-accessible Stiltz Trio+, a reconditioned Stiltz home lift, or simply need an experienced company to maintain an existing installation, our team can discuss the options with you.
We can also look at the different installation possibilities available within your property.
A lift doesn’t necessarily need to dominate a room. Depending on the layout of the building, it may be possible to install it within a cupboard, through a stairwell void, in the corner of a room or as part of a planned renovation.
And if building work is required, Anglian Lifts can organise that too – or we’re equally happy to work alongside your own builder.
