A Challenging Yet Rewarding Installation
This Guernsey home lift installation presented several unusual challenges. For starters, the property was still under construction—so much so that the building didn’t even have a staircase connecting the ground floor to the first floor. Where most contractors might hesitate, our team embraced the challenge and adapted our process to suit the conditions. With meticulous planning and coordination with the construction team, we ensured a seamless and safe installation.
The PVE-37 vacuum elevator was installed to serve three levels: basement, ground floor, and first floor. The entire project, including travel to and from the island, took just four days—a testament to the skill, efficiency, and dedication of our installation team.

What Makes Vacuum Elevators So Special?
Vacuum elevators are unlike any other lift system on the market. The PVE-37 model installed in Guernsey operates on air pressure rather than traditional cables, pistons, or chains. This makes it one of the most innovative and space-efficient lift types available today.
Here’s how it works: The lift car travels within a self-supporting vertical cylinder made of polycarbonate and aluminium. When you press the button to ascend, a turbine-powered vacuum pump removes air from the top of the cylinder, creating a difference in air pressure that gently lifts the car upward. To descend, valves at the top of the shaft slowly reintroduce air, allowing the car to glide downward under controlled gravity. It’s smooth, quiet, and remarkably energy-efficient.
The PVE system also eliminates the need for a machine room, pit, or shaft—making it ideal for properties with space constraints or architectural limitations. Plus, its panoramic design offers a stylish, modern aesthetic that complements contemporary interiors.
